We built this lamp for a very specific problem: how to heat up a wide area without accidentally torching the middle of your project. Most people are used to those old metal coil elements. They work, but they’re temperamental. By switching to a carbon fiber filament, we can stretch 900 watts across a full meter. The result? A smooth, even spread of heat instead of those annoying hot spots that ruin your materials. The feel of the heat Because we’ve paired a 1000mm length with 900W, you aren’t getting a violent blast of heat. It’s more of a steady, gentle soak. This is exactly what you want if you’re drying coatings or prepping large plastic sheets. You know that feeling when the center of a piece warps because it got too hot too fast? This lamp fixes that. Sure, it takes a little longer to ramp up than a shorter, high-wattage tube, but the consistency is night and day. Why carbon fiber? Here’s the thing about carbon fiber: it uses infrared radiation to hit your target directly. We wrap the filament in high-purity quartz to keep it from oxidizing. One big win here is that carbon fiber handles the “stretch and shrink” of heating and cooling way better than Nichrome. It doesn’t sag or lose its shape after a few hundred cycles. But a word of caution. Quartz is fragile. If your mounting brackets are too tight and put pressure on the glass, the tube will likely crack the first time it hits a temperature spike. Give it some breathing room. Getting it running In most cases, this is a simple drop-in replacement for your standard 1000mm infrared heaters. Most industrial controllers can handle the 900W draw without breaking a sweat. Just keep in mind that carbon fiber has a different resistance curve than the halogen tubes you might be used to. I’d recommend double-checking your PID settings. You don’t want the temperature to overshoot and spike during that first heat-up phase.
