It’s a simple swap, but it lets us push more current through the lamp and shift the heat spectrum, which is why they’re the go-to for when you can’t afford to wait for a slow warm-up. The Nitty-Gritty on Power Here’s the thing about wattage and voltage: it’s all about your line speed. We build these lamps to hit specific targets so you aren’t wasting energy or slowing down production. But be careful. You’ve got to match your power supply to the lamp’s rated voltage exactly. If you don’t, you’ll fry the filament way sooner than you should. And a word of advice? Don’t just cram a high-wattage lamp into a housing that wasn’t built for it. You’ll end up melting your plastic parts or tripping your breakers, and nobody wants to deal with that on a Tuesday morning. Why Quartz? The quartz glass isn’t just there for looks. It keeps the carbon filament from oxidizing and lets the infrared heat pass through without getting trapped. Depending on what you’re drying, we can coat the glass to tweak the wavelength. This is huge. It means we can make the heat soak deep into your material instead of just scorching the surface and leaving the inside damp. Making It Work in the Real World These lamps are great because they’re compact and turn on instantly. You can hook them up to a PID controller to get your temperature zones exactly where you want them. But there is a trade-off. Carbon filaments gethot. I mean, really hot. If you just plug them in and walk away, that heat is going to soak into your sockets and eat through your wiring insulation. You need proper shielding or some forced-air cooling to keep things safe.
