Introduction
We built this ruby quartz carbon fiber heat lamp for one reason: to make automotive paint curing feel effortless. It’s a shortwave infrared emitter, designed to blast focused heat right where you need it. The payoff? You cure paint fast, get the same great results every time, and have a lamp that just keeps going, day after day in the shop.
Technical Deep-Dive
Here’s the power behind it: it’s a 2500W shortwave infrared unit that runs on 400V. We chose that voltage because it packs a serious punch into a compact 300mm tube. The result is intense heat in a small space. That wattage and voltage combo means the temperature climbs fast, which slashes your curing time. We set it up this way to keep pace with the demands of a busy shop—fast heat-up, constant cycles, and a steady output you can count on.
Material & Design
The tube itself is built with a ruby quartz envelope around a carbon fiber heating element. Quartz is tough—it laughs in the face of high heat and handles sudden temperature changes without cracking. So, you can flip this thing on and off all day long, no worries. The ruby tint is smart, too. It filters the light, shifting the output into the infrared band that cuts right through coatings, heating them up quickly and evenly. And the R7s connector? It’s a simple two-pin setup that makes wiring a breeze and handles high current without breaking a sweat. It’s a straight swap for any existing R7s system, so you can just pop this in and go—no rewiring needed.
Application & Benefits
On the shop floor, this setup is a game-changer for car paint curing. It delivers fast, pinpoint heating that keeps your production moving and cuts down on wasted energy. That focused heat also helps prevent solvents from getting trapped, which means a smoother, higher-quality finish. And because it’s only 300mm long, it slips right into tight bays and works just as well in your hand as it does mounted to a fixture. Now, one thing to keep in mind: 2500W at 400V creates a lot of heat. So, the fixture and the area around it need to be set up to handle it. Make sure you’ve got proper ventilation and heat shielding in place to protect nearby parts and keep everything running safely.
