We built this infrared carbon fiber heating lamp for the jobs that demand serious speed and power. The kind where you need to blast heat exactly where you want it, without turning the whole machine into a sauna. Technical Deep-Dive

Here’s the thing: we spec’d this lamp to run at 400V. That lets us pack a ton of power into a compact tube. We’re talking 2500W of output packed into just 300mm of length. That’s a lot of heat in a small footprint. Because it’s shortwave infrared, the energy goes straight to the target. No energy wasted heating up the air around it. It heats up fast. Seriously fast. But that also means your control system and cooling need to be on the same level.

Material & Design

Inside, a carbon fiber element sits in a quartz envelope. It’s tough enough to handle extreme heat and resists thermal shock, so it won’t crack when things heat up and cool down. We also added a halogen gas fill. It stabilizes the filament and helps the lamp last longer, even with constant on-off cycles. The coating isn’t just there for looks. It shapes the spectral output and protects the element. And the R7s connector? It’s a simple, two-pin design. Makes wiring easy, swapping out a breeze, and keeps the alignment solid once it’s in the fixture.

Application & Benefits

In the real world, this lamp shines in PET blowing, plastic welding, and curing lines. Anywhere you need intense, focused heat. That shortwave response means it heats up in a flash, so your cycle times stay tight. It’s a drop-in replacement for any system already set up for R7s, but with way more power density than standard coil heaters. It’s a tough, reliable lamp. Just remember, with that much power packed into a small space, you’ve got to plan for heat dissipation. Proper airflow or water cooling is a must. Otherwise, your components will cook.
